The black moor is considered a special protected area of the Bavarian Rhön. A 2,2 km long boardwalk makes it possible to stroll leisurely through this showcase of nature. Today, the Black Moor is one of the most important upland moors in Europe and is strictly protected as a core zone in the UNESCO Rhön biosphere reserve. From our KUNZMANN'S Ayurveda and wellness hotel, the Black Moor is only 41 km away.

2 | WASSERKUPPE

At 950m above sea level, this is the highest and best known mountain in the Rhön. Especially for families with children and particularly active people, the Wasserkuppe, which is only 44 km away from KUNZMANN'S Wellnesshotel, is a very popular destination. Various sports and leisure activities such as tobogganing, skiing and snowboarding in winter and hiking, summer tobogganing and gliding in summer invite visitors to have lots of fun.

The basalt lake is an artificial lake in a quiet and idyllic location, which was created by the mining of basalt. The lake offers a great starting point for a hike during your vacation and is also very popular with anglers.

4 | HIGHLAND CATTLE

If you've always wanted to see Scottish Highland cattle, you've come to the right place, because some of them have found a home in the Rhön with Edgar Thomas. They prefer to stay in the open air. The weather in Bavaria, like snow and rain do not impress them at all. And if it gets too hot, they simply look for a shady spot. Why don't you pay them a visit! 5 | KREUZBERG

At a distance of 30 km from the KUNZMANN‘S wellness hotel rises impressively the Kreuzberg with a height of 928 m and the Franciscan monastery over Bischofsheim. The Kreuzberg is known for its centuries-old tradition as a place of pilgrimage. But also hikers, vacationers for a weekend and excursionists are magically attracted by the holy mountain of the Franconians. The monastery with its own brewery invites you to stay.

6 | STONE WALL

The stone wall is a good 100 m long, vertically sloping wall made of up to 28 m high phonolite rock. While the Steinwand can be climbed effortlessly from behind, the steep front side is especially popular with climbers. Whether for climbing or for a relaxing walk - the stone wall is always worth a visit. Our guests who like to explore will find the stone wall 47 km away from our KUNZMANN'S wellness hotel in Bad Bocklet.

The Red Moor is part of the High Rhön and one of the most popular destinations for short breaks and guests in Bavaria, especially for hikers in summer and cross-country skiers with trails in winter. Due to its unique nature, the Red Moor is a very important part of the UNESCO Rhön biosphere reserve. With a distance of 33 km it is almost a stone's throw from our KUNZMANN'S wellness hotel to the Red Moor.
